Perinatal & PostPartum Depression
Support for New Moms
Becoming a new can be a tremendously joyous event. It can also be a time of great stress. The first few months can be filled with complex, changing feelings: joy, confusion, sadness, delight, overwhelm, frustration, hope, guilt, disappointment, loneliness and ambivalence. We live in a time of more disconnection from family and traditional support systems. This can leave us feeling isolated and deeply alone.
Something that is not often discussed when we think of new motherhood is the actual process of becoming a mother. I will help you gain more confidence as a mother and tap into your innate wisdom. I will work side by side with you to understand your mothering identity and process all of the transitions that you are going through.
If you are having difficulty adjusting to pregnancy or new motherhood, or you have not been feeling like yourself, please reach out. Along with my practice, I’m also the Bay Area Coordinator for Postpartum Support International. I can help refer you to a group and a number of other resources to help you on your motherhood journey.
It is essential to feel supported during this time and focus on postpartum wellness. As a mom of a young child myself, I get it. I am here to help – nurturing new moms and moms-to-be is the heart of my psychotherapy practice.

In the months after your baby is born, in addition to honoring your baby’s needs, keep this self-assessment nearby as a daily reminder of your self-care needs.
